FAQ’s

Q: When should I schedule my newborn shoot for?

A: It is best to have the shoot within 10 days of birth. This allows me to move and pose the baby easier and will result in the best end result.

Q: How long will my shoot last?

A: A shoot on average will last about 2 hours. Please provide extra time if it is a newborn shoot because we will have to provide ample time for changing and feeding the baby.  A typical newborn photo shoot can take around 4 hours.

Q: When will my proofs be ready?

A: Please allow around 2 weeks for photoshop work and getting the proofs uploaded for viewing. Once they are ready to view you will be able to view the photos in a private online gallery on my site. With your written permission I will get a sneak peak uploaded to my blog within a couple of days.

Q:  How many pictures should I expect from my session?

A:  Please remember that children are very unpredicable.  Depending on how the child cooperates for the pictures is how the end result turns out.  I have found that many times children behave better when their parents are not around.  I’m sure many of you hear this from your child’s teacher at school.  That being said the number of pictures “normally” ranges between 20 and 50 photos from the shoot.

Q: Do you have a studio?

A: I do have a home studio in Clarksville, TN. I think on location shoots in your home or location of your choice are always great options as well. I would like your child to be comfortable in the location because it definitely shines through in the pictures.

Q: Where will my session take place?

A:  I travel for free within 30 miles of Clarksville, TN area.    Beyond 30 miles there is an additional charge of  $0.50 per mile.  I find the best lighting for a session is natural light so I can find outdoor locations close to your home, or you can travel to my Clarksville, TN studio.  I love it when clients provide suggestions of what they think would be best for the session.   I will also come prepared with a list of ideas for the session and between the two think I come out with some outstanding photos that you can cherish for years to come.

Q: What should I wear to my photo shoot?

A: Babies 6 months and younger are often photographed in a diaper or nothing at all. A trendy or knitted hat for this age is always a cute addition to the photo. I will have props available but anything you would like in the picture please bring with you. Beyond 6 months something trendy but casual is always recommended. One of my favorite props for a girl is a pettiskirt or tutu. Please make sure to bring a change of clothes so we can get a variety of looks for your pictures. One of may favorite clothing choices is to mix looks, such as a blazer with holey jeans and a plain t-shirt. Overall a lot of layers and a trendy hat is my favorite look!  I also recommend clothing with texture, such as chunky sweaters, clothing with ruffles, buttons, ribbon, embroidery, anything that has a grit to it.

Also, choosing clothing for a family session can be really stressful.  Try picking a few colors and sticking to them for the entire family.  Dark jeans are always a good choice and you can pair it with coordinating colors.  Sometimes matching too much can look cheesy, so try to keep each person a little unique but staying within the color scheme.

Q: Where would you suggest purchasing the clothing for our shoot?

A: Some of my favorite places are as follows:
